Edit an Author

So here's my spiel:
What would you do if you had the world all to yourself?
This is a question Genevieve Eden must answer.
It's the summer before she goes off to college and it's a hot one.
It's also a lonely one.
In a world where everyone has mysteriously turned to dust, Genevieve must survive. But for what?
On her journey to find life, Genevieve discovers if there are others out there and if the world as we know it...
Is simply dust.

Okay, so this is it. It's the short little synopsis of my novel that should leave you on the edge of your seat, begging to pull ten bucks out of your wallet to buy a copy.
Yeah, so maybe I wouldn't go that far, but this is where you come in.

Have you ever read a book, short story, or even a newspaper article that seemed to fall short? Was there something wrong with the grammar, the plot, the characters, the setting, or even the whole thing that you desperately wanted to fix?

My name is Rebekah Bennick and I am working on my first novel which is currently unnamed. It's a product of my Honors Program project for my Junior semester at Illinois State University, and I have tentatively completed the first two chapters. (And a prologue! Woo!)

The purpose of this blog is to allow readers like you to hack at, reassemble, or completely change what happens in these beginning chapters. Is this too much of a challenge? Simply leave a comment below the chapter saying what you'd like to change, what you aren't satisfied with, etc.
This not only benefits me as the author, but the audience as a whole. (And completes my final project for my creative writing project.)

Hopefully you don't have to edit this introduction.
